Title : Isolation, characterization and optimization of agarase enzyme from Micrococcus luteus F2

An agar degrading bacterium Micrococcus luteus F2 was isolated from river water. The identification of strain done by partial 16S-rRNA sequencing. This organism produced agarase enzyme and degrade agar at 37˚C, pH 5.0. Highest activity obtained 0.203 U/ml at 37˚C, 0.16 U/ml at 0.5% agar concentration, 0.136 U/ml at pH 5.0, and 0.10 U/ml at 0.09% NaCl concentration. The enzyme agarase produced by this strain was partially purified by ammonium sulphate precipitation and dialysis. It gave 1.14 fold and 1.049 fold purification in 70% and 80% saturation respectively.

Title : Capture time of carriers and photons density in quantum spin lasers

Here we describe the structure of two types of quantum spin laser form type quantum dots and wells according to the bucket model. Then, with according to the structures, we study the laser equations first in the conventional state, then we propagate the spin state to better gain. That is, carriers and photons density, with according to the optical gain in both the conventional and spin states, is ratio to time. In the end, we examine the system in a steady state for a state not captured (τ_c=0ps) and after passing (τ_c=2ps), which is captured and photons produced.

Title : Frequency Response For Quantum Dot And Well Spin lasers In Dynamical States

Quantum ,lasers : In this paper, we first examine the structure of quantum well and quantum dot lasers. Then, to reduce and eliminate the complexity of the quantum dot laser structure description, we solve the rate equations first in quantum well laser and then in the quantum dot laser for both conventional and spin states. By solving the rate equations, we calculate the dynamic response function of the laser, which can be used to examine the important properties of laser. Finally, according to dynamic response function of quantum well and quantum dot lasers, we examine the bandwidth frequency, peak point frequency and dynamic gain.

Title : Association of serum procalcitonin with the risk of coronary artery disease

Serum procalcitonin levels, coronary artery disease : Introduction Procalcitonin (PCT), a calcitonin precursor is awell established novel systemic inflammatory biomarker. Inflammation in body plays important key role in pathogenesis of coronary artery disease (CAD). In previous studies, the results shows that the increase in PCT level have strong association with the severity of atherosclerosis, which leads to increase the risk of coronary artery disease (CAD) in the patients. Various studies have been done to investigate the role of PCT in the pathogenesis and risk of CAD,yet their results have been inconsistent. So, in the current study we evaluate the correlation between the serum procalcitonin levels and risk of CAD. Aims and Objectives: The aim of the study was to find the association between the serum procalcitonin levels and risk of coronary artery disease. Materials and Methods: 100 patients selected for the study, after taken the written consent form the patients were equally divided into two group’s case and control group. In case group 50 patients with angiographically proven CAD as case group and 50 apparently healthy age and sex matched adults as control group. Serum procalcitonin levels were measured in both the groups using ELISA based kits. Results: Levels of Serum procalcitonin were 252.52 ± 17.43 ng/ml in case group as compared to 40.84 ± 15.6 ng/ml in control group and their difference was statistically significant (p < 0.0001). Conclusion: The results of our study shows that there was strong relation between serum procalcitonin levels and coronary artery disease risk.

Title : Clinical and Microbiological Profile of Pathogens in Febrile Neutropenia in Haematology Malignancies: A Single Center cross-sectional type of observational study

Background Neutropenia is a clinical condition in a body occurs when a low number of neutrophils in the blood. Febrile neutropenia is a clinical condition in which development of a high fever with signs of infection in the body. It is a most common postoperative complication of anticancer treatment. The aim of the study was to evaluate the current practices used in the institution and for culture sensitivity in isolated microorganisms. Material and methods: 50 hospitalized patients are selected for the study. All the patients are provided informed consent before starting of the study. Results: 50 patients selected from the study 36 were males and 14 were females. 42 Patients were found the gram negative infections. The most common bacteria found in the culture media was Escherichia coli. 8 (15%) Patients were found the gram positive microorganisms stain and most common bacteria found in the culture media was Staphylococcus aureus. Conclusion: In our study we concluded that there decrease in the level of infection in the body due to gram positive microorganisms. For doctor the main concern was the gram negative microorganisms and further surveillance needed. In our study the results shows that the sensitivity for antibiotic therapy in antibiogram.

Title : Anticancer effect of supercritical CO2 extract of mango ginger (Curcuma amada Roxb.) in human breast cancer cells in vitro

Breast cancer is the most common cancer in women accounting for about 1 out of 3 cancer cases in the US and 41760 deaths. Most of the metastatic breast cancers that are negative for progesterone, estrogen and HER2/neu are often aggressive and non-curable. Integrative treatment modalities combining complementary and alternative medicines along with conventional chemotherapeutics would be beneficial for improving the therapeutic efficiency and quality of life for breast cancer patients. We have investigated on the anticancer effects of supercritical CO2 extract of mango ginger (Curcuma amada Roxb. - CA) in breast carcinoma cells (MCF-7) as well as transformed pre-malignant (MCF-10A) cells and analysed the molecular pathways affected by CA. CA is highly cytotoxic to MCF-7 cells as compared to MCF-10A cells with significantly lower IC values. CA also inhibited glycolysis by reducing the production of both lactate and ATP, the rate of inhibition being higher in MCF-7 cells than MCF-10 cells. The anticancer effect of CA in breast cancer cells is also demonstrated by the induction of apoptosis in MCF-7 cells as compared to MCF-10A cells. Analysis of biomarkers revealed that CA down regulated anti-apoptotic (p53 and Bcl-2), pro-metastatic (MMP-2, MMP-9), pro-inflammatory (COX-2) genes and up regulated pro-apoptotic (Bax, p21 and caspase-3), anti-metastatic (TIMP1) genes in MCF-7 breast cancer cells. These results indicated the anti-cancer effect of CA which could be further investigated for its use in breast cancer treatment.

Title : SPURIOUS HYPERBILIRUBINEMIA SECONDARY TO NAPROXEN OVERDOSE

Naproxen, hyperbilirubinemia , drug interaction, overdose: Naproxen is one of the most commonly used NSAID in the world. It is metabolized primarily by the liver to 6-0-desmethyl naproxen which is then excreted through the kidneys. This can lead to spurious Hyperbilirubinemia due to interference in bilirubin assay by Naproxen metabolite. Herein we report a case of a 20 year-old-female with suicidal attempt by ingesting a high load of Naproxen leading to a Total bilirubin of 7.44 mg/dLwithout no signs of hemolysis or liver failure.

Title : EVALUATION OF PHENOTYPIC VARIATIONS IN THE ANTIBIOTICS SENSITIVITY OF ESCHERICHIA COLI BY REPEATED EXPOSURE

antibiotics - repeated exposure : Enterobacteriaceae, in particular Escherichia coli, are habitual residents of the gastrointestinal tract, capable of causing a large number of infections. The MIC varies according to the bacterial strains and the antibiotics used, hence the need to carry out antibiotic sensitivity tests. The objective of this study is to evaluate the behavior of Escherichia coli after repeated exposure to the same antibiotic to demonstrate a possible correlation between excessive intake of antibiotics and bacterial resistance. A prospective and descriptive study was carried out in the Microbiology Laboratory of Fundamental and Applied Biochemistry (Faculty of Sciences Antananarivo) during the month of November 2019. The strains studied were the reference strain Escherichia coli ATCC 25922 provided by the Laboratory and two clinical strains from the Microbiology Laboratory of the Joseph Ravoahangy Andrianavalona University Hospital Center Antananarivo. Repeated exposure to Tobramycin and Ofloxacin of these strains were performed. The results of our study showed that most E. coli is exposed to the antibiotic, the more it develops resistance. The evolution of E. coli's sensitivity is different in the presence of Tobramycin with MICs up to 4 times the starting value while in the presence of Ofloxacin, the MIC increases to 125 times the initial value. This difference may be due to the different target of the antibiotic which causes the bacteria to develop variable mechanisms to escape it.

Title : Quantum Relativistic Proton Radiation Therapy of Eye Cancer with Injecting Gold Nanoparticles

eye tumor,relativistic quantum,simulation,proton therapy,nanoparticles : In this work, we use the comprehensive relativistic quantum theory of Bethe- Bloch model and Monte Carlo Geant4 / Gate simulations to calculate the dose distribution in the eye tumor using proton therapy with and without gold nanoparticles(GNPs) injection.The calculation results indicate an increase in the amount of deposited dose in the eye tumor due to the combination of gold nanoparticles with proton therapy. The use of GNPs during proton therapy is beneficial, because these nanoparticles, due to their optical resonance properties, release X-rays due to protons, and these x-rays are produced directly at the tumor site.This study shows that the selection of physical interactions models, variation of concentration injected GNPs, size of the nanoparticles, the selected phantom, size of the tumor, location of the tumor, energy and the geometry of incident proton beam, proton fluence are the basic parameters that affect on the total stopping power, dose distribution, range straggling and mean scattering angle in the eye tumor and not only the dose distribution but also the enhancement of dose, is related to the production of higher energy secondary electrons within the GNPs.

Title : Deficiency-related Pancytopenia: retrospective study of 34 cases

Introduction: The goal of this work was to determine the place of the deficiency-related etiology in Pancytopenia, facilitation of the diagnosis and the definition of the epidemiological, clinical and para-clinical characteristics of deficiency-related Pancytopenia. Methodology: It is a retrospective study of 112 Pancytopenia cases of which 34 were Deficiency-related Pancytopenia taken from a data taken from a period of 5 years (2006-2010) from the Hematology Laboratory of the Mohammed V Teaching Military Hospital Rabat. Results: 112 Pancytopenia cases were found. The result from a comparison between 2 groups of patients of medium age with or without etiological deficiency-related Pancytopenia by the “Student Test” was t = 0.001070744<0.025 and the comparison of the parameters of the Hemogram by the ANOVA Test gave the following values: F= 0.41, p= 0.565 greater than alpha= 0.05 for a limit of 5%. For the 34 cases of deficiency-related Pancytopenia studied, 11 were women and the rest men. The medium age was 48.47 years. The medium level of Hb was 6.11 g/dl. Leukocyte and platelet Numeration Media were respectively 2.55 g/l and 58.78 g/l Discussion: The etiology deficiency-related is the principal cause of Pancytopenia in the department of Hematology of the Mohammed V Teaching Military Hospital Rabat. This diagnosis demands the use of myelogram and or the determination of the quantity of vitamins or the use of therapeutic tests. The epidemiological, clinical and para-clinical characteristics are similar to those found in literature. Conclusion: We observed the need for early diagnosis of vitamin deficiency (Vit B12 and Vit B9) coupled with the systemization of preventive measures for all persons at high risk. It is however primordial for regular follow-ups of the progression over a long period of time of patients under treatment at the aim of correcting the deficiency-related Pancytopenia
